ISSUES

Larry is like us. As the next State Representative, Larry will fight for our shared priorities:

  • Lower Cost of Living—It is time to restore affordability to Massachusetts. As a business owner, Larry is the only candidate with the experience to fight high utility bills and other government-controlled agencies in their fees to lower our cost of living. He will work with Senator Dooner to reduce our utility costs along with reducing other fees.

  • Less Taxes—Larry is the only candidate who will hold the line on taxes.

  • Larry has signed the No New Taxes Pledge.

  • Larry supports reducing the sales tax to 5%.

  • Larry is opposed to Gov. Healey’s taxes on prescription drugs.

  • Larry is opposed to the candy tax.

  • Larry is opposed to increasing the auto excise tax.

  • More State Aid for Communities—As a City Councilor, Larry understands the importance of state aid to our communities. He will work with Senator Kelly Dooner to increase local aid which is vital to keeping property taxes low while providing quality services.

  • End the Costly Migrant Crisis—Massachusetts has spent over $2 billion to just house migrants. Taxpayers are also funding healthcare, transportation, education, and meals. As our next State Representative, Larry strongly believes that our taxpayer-funded benefits should be limited to our legal residents who are in need. That’s why he supports amending the Right to Shelter law so Massachusetts will no longer be a magnet state.

Quintal Pledges No New Taxes and Reduce Sales Tax to 5%

Today on tax day Taunton City Councilor and Republican candidate for State Representative Larry Quintal announced that he has signed the No New Taxes pledge and that he will work to lower the sales tax back to 5 percent.“It is time to lower the tax burden in Taxachusetts to make our lives more affordable. As the next State Representative, I will not support raising taxes. I am opposed to Governor Healey’s new taxes on prescription drugs, a candy tax, additional fees on cable tv, and increases in the auto excise taxes. We need spending reforms and accountability of our tax dollars not tax increases,” said Quintal.Quintal also wants to see the sales tax reduced from 6.25% to 5%.“The state of New Hampshire can exist without a sales or income tax. Hence, the Commonwealth can at a minimum roll back the sales tax to 5%. Reducing this most regressive tax will not only help families and seniors, but it will bring back sales to Massachusetts,” said Quintal.Quintal has a proven track record in reducing taxes. As a City Councilor, he supported property tax breaks for seniors.“The people of Easton and Taunton need a State Representative who will protect their wallets. I am the only candidate with a proven track record,” added Quintal.###
